Maybe because I don’t have the kind of crafting/making/sewing skills that are naturally required. Or maybe because it seemed like the type of venture that’s exclusive to those with ample capital to bank roll a fancy production. But when I dig a little deeper into the stories of the people I know who have followed this path, I can see that the process has less to do with personal wealth and much more to do with tremendous hard work and a simple desire to make things and bring them to the world. It’s a slow build. There’s a massive learning curve. And patience and persistence are king.

Today, I’d like to introduce you to my friend Arianna Jones, founder and owner of Owynn, a small bag company based out of her cozy apartment in Dallas. Ari’s not rollin’ in dough and she doesn’t have it all figured out. She’s just really good at making stylish, sturdy bags and she’s willing to make the mistakes and learn the lessons in order to put her work out into the world. And isn’t that what we hope would happen in our case too? When we’ve found our thing that lights us up, it won’t matter how daunting or intimidating the task is… somehow we’ll find the courage to make it happen.

Take Arianna as inspiration. She’s doing it with such grace and tenacity.

Below is a peek inside Ari’s Dallas home and Owynn studio and a closer look at the prized possessions and personal belongings that bring her joy and tell part of her Style Story.
