Blame it on the years of school beginnings and ballet seasons, but when the air cools and the trees turn, I’m ready to turn a new chapter as well. To start something new, make something better, be something bolder. This season, that change expressed itself in the form of a new hair cut. I decided to go back to the pixie style, a look that I’ve tried before and loved before. Heck knows I don’t have time to do much with my hair these days, so the pixie is perfect… and distinctive. I like being distinctive.

So it went inside my head right before I asked my friend Misty to shear my locks. Before she was even done, I felt like myself again!

The great thing about trying something new is that every once in a while you stumbled across something that you don’t ever want to change again. A favorite, a classic, a signature.

In other news, I’ve made some changes to my format for outfit posts too.

I’ve been aching to get back to dance – something else that makes me feel infinitely more like myself. But as it stands now, with a baby, it doesn’t look like I’ll be joining a company any time soon. So I had the funny little idea to kill two birds with one stone by incorporating dance into the blog. Yup! I’ll be dancing my way through all future outfit posts as another small way to make the work I do and the way I do it more personally authentic and distinctive.

I like to dance. Now my blog does too.

I shot this against the wall of an abandoned building in the W. 7th behind the parking garage. Angie Garcia is my photographer (she’s great!!) and she knows all the best locations.
