Melanie and Dalton Tarver run in my circles. Or, perhaps I should put it – I run in their circles. They’ve both been at this photo business for longer than I have. As luck would have it, we shared mutual friends before ever meeting too! Then, coincidentally, we were booked to work together before either of us made the connection. Needless to say, once introductions were made and connections were realized, I quickly scheduled a Style Story shoot with the two of them for what I had heard through the grapevine was an adorable East Dallas home and eclectic creative life.

A few emails and text messages later, I found myself enjoying a delicious cup of Chemex coffee paired with freshly made blueberry muffins beside two of the cutest pups I’ve met. The afternoon followed with a photographic tour of their typical weekend scene. As you’ll see below, a typical weekend in the Tarver household consists of good coffee, home cooking, garden tending, home brew beer, and plenty of puppy time. I’m sure there’s usually a bit more housework and general hustling involved, but on this day we were all taking it easy-breezy. Just how I like it.

Come back later in the week to hear my conversation with Melanie and Dalton about working in the photo industry, home brewing beer, and how the “grind” of daily work is actually an essential element to creative development.

Until then, folks… have a stout one in my place. I’m probably such a light weight by now.

What a great photo shoot! Love the pictures with the dogs…..everyone should have dogs, cats, and other types of animals in their house as I think it keeps our hearts open and God knows, the creatures need love too. Neat house and making your own home brew is an important venture. In fact, I had a home brew with snacks tonight….home brew from a friend. Thank you for a great post.
