I haven’t completely forgotten about you even though it might seem that way. Just the opposite, actually. Despite my absence, I can’t stop thinking about you! So, here’s the thing. While you’ve been wondering what the h#%&@# happened to me (unless you follow me on Instagram, in which case you already know what the h#%&@# happened to me), I’ve been working through some pretty monumental life changes. And, at last, the time has come to unveil the true reason for my absence.

Over the course of the past three months, the man and I found, bought and moved into our first house all to make room and much needed time for our forthcoming baby. That’s right. A. BABY. No joke. THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING! It has seriously taken me from the time I first learned the news for myself until now, three weeks into my second trimester, to come to grips with the reality of this massive life development.

Now that I’m past the debilitating first trimester symptoms and the all consuming task of upheaving one’s life and belongings to a new home, I can say that I’m finally ready to step back into the blogging arena. I can’t make any promises about frequency or quantity. If I’ve learned anything in my first four months of pregnancy, it’s that control is out of my hands. Life will do to me what it will and I just have to make the best of it.

So now, as I sit here silently in front of my glowing computer screen while the rest of the house is pitch black and fast asleep, I can tell you only a few things with certainty. Our new volume of life in which we navigate owning our first home and having our first child is going to be a roller coaster ride of mini-chapters, no doubt. It’s going to make for some awesome DIY decorating posts and inevitably some very overwhelmed mama posts. But this won’t become a “mommy blog”. I’ll leave that to the pros. Promise made. If anything, Our Style Stories will simply become a more enriched and enlivened version of what it has been before. I love sharing stories about creative living and style and that’s not going to change anytime soon.

Until the next major life change! Jk. How about we just plan to meet up for a quick update next week?

Cheers, friends. Your patience has been deeply appreciated. And it’s so good to be back.

Congrats! Children can turn your life upside down and into a scrambled mess but it is worth it! I’m looking forward to seeing a style perspective that is child friendly. I love all the ideas and the inspiration presented here but much of it is for a child-free environment. And thanks for promising not to be a mommy blogger. That brought a smile to my face!
