PLACE: Salt Lake City, UT
STORY: While I was off in Tulum dreaming about being a hippie, my friend Rachel and her husband Dave were actually talking the talk and walking the walk. Or at least their own version of the “hippie” walk. Their’s is one that involves less hemp and patchouli and more finely crafted cabinetry, brass cuffs, body tattoos of heirloom tomatoes, Persian rugs, and large slabs of marble. Of course, the muumuus are a constant.
I couldn’t even tell you how I found my way to Rachel and Dave’s story but the whole thing felt perfectly serendipitous. Rachel is an illustrator who specializes in a unique style of portraiture and Dave is a fine woodworker and the owner of Chamberlain Cabinetry. Together, the two share an incredibly unique story of love, separation, reunion, and adventure. Oh, and babies. Lots of super cute babies. I could go into the specifics but that would spoil the surprise of tomorrow’s podcast conversation. So, let’s stay on track with the topic for today… The photos! Please welcome Rachel, Dave, Beaux, Georgia, Kingston, Gus, and Kevin to the blog and join me in touring a snippet of their life in their beautiful Utah home nestled in a mountainside overlooking Salt Lake City.
When I travelled to Salt Lake City to attend Alt Summit this June, I never expected to meet such vibrant, eclectic, and bohemian people. I’m sure that’s just a result of my ignorant preconceptions of the place. Regardless, I couldn’t be more thrilled that I had the opportunity to meet the Chamberlain family and to share their beautiful story.
Come back tomorrow to hear Rachel and Dave tell their story in their own words on the podcast.
