You may have noticed my latest sponsor in the sidebar of the blog. Decorist is a new online resource for people in need of decorating guidance on a budget. I have to admit, browsing their website for the first time was pretty darn fun! Home decor, design boards, curated shopping feeds, internet entrepreneurship… yeah, it was fun. (I get nerdy about this stuff.)
So, I took it upon myself to give their services a trial run and redesign our living room using a few of their handy tools.

Then I started the process of tracking down unique pieces to replace some very worn out furniture we had been holding onto. After much late night searching, I came across the coolest designer sofa on Craigslist. Yes, it’s white – ivory, actually. Apparently, I like matching my sofas to my pets. Next, I put together a design board on Decorist using snapshots of existing furniture, images of similar looking placeholders and a couple new items I planned to purchase. The board was a rough draft but gave me a crucial sneak peek at what I could expect from my finished space.
So, here’s the board I created.
And here’s the final space! It is such a significant improvement from our original room, in my opinion. I wanted to brighten and liven the room with color and light neutrals. My ivory sofa from Craigslist, bold blue rug from Jonathan Adler for JCP, and starburst mirror from Target pulled the space together nicely.
Of course, you can pull together your own interior makeover with Decorist also! Visit them HERE to learn more. You may also be interested in a little “LOVE,LUST, WANT, NEED” guest post I did for the Decorist blog. You can check it out HERE.
While we’re on the subject, I’m curious… what space would you redo for your Decorist makeover?
