Style Stories

Rachael Currie’s Style Story

Sometimes it seems that God sends you just that one thing that you need. No more, no less. And then sometimes he lets loose all at once and sends you everything you need and more!

Case-in-point, when I first moved to Texas I didn’t have many friends. Ok, any friends. It took a long time to even meet a few casual acquaintances that I connected with. Slowly since moving to Texas, I’ve built a network of fellow creatives and designers that I am happy to call friends. In the last six months, though, I’ve met more sweet girls that have become truly close friends than I did in all of the time leading up to this point. Rachael Currie is one of those friends.

We met through our mutual friend, Dana Pugh. (Do you see Dana’s Style Story?) Dana swore for months before our meeting that Rachael and I looked identical and would be best pals if we ever met. We finally took her word for it and arranged a visit. Hence, the lovely Style Story below.

A bit about Rachael… She’s a production designer and stylist like myself and creates beautiful scenes for photography and film through her work, much of it at WELD. For the most part, she’s a pretty laid back person with one important exception. When she’s in creating or scouting mode (yes, she’s a fellow mad “thrifter” also). Things kick into hire gear when Rachael is working on a project. Late nights, marathon crafting sessions, last minute road trips, and rapid fire brainstorming. They’re all part and parcel to her work as an independent creative. In her home, though, Rachael has assembled the restorative counterpart to her high intensity professional life. It’s a peaceful haven discreetly tucked away in small guest house in a quiet neighborhood of Dallas. From my very first steps in her front door to my last walk away, it was clear that this space is incredibly important to Rachael. She has carefully curated it to be comfortable, peaceful, uncluttered, and yet still warm and inviting.

Let’s take a walk through her style together, shall we?

There’s so much more to unpack from Rachael’s story that I haven’t gone into here today. But no need to worry, we’ll get into all of that later in the week when I share the recording of our conversation. In the meantime, you can learn more about Rachael and her beautiful work HERE.
