Power Clashing… Inspired By Krista

Inspired by Krista’s undeniably bad-A outfit choice and self-proclaimed “power clashing” philosophy from her recent Style Story, I’ve decided to come out myself… as a power-clasher! To explain, a power clasher is someone who mixes up patterns in bold, confident, fun-loving ways. Basically, my favorite thing to do with fashion.

Anyone who knows me in person knows that I love vintage clothing, quirky combos, and pattern. In now more technical and succinct terms, I can call myself a power-clasher. (And I’m not the only one.) To prove it, I grabbed a few new threads from my Fall wardrobe for a quick pattern clashing outfit post. It feels gooood to clash unabashedly.

  1. Work with no more than three major colors.
  2. Choose patterns that are different. For instance, plaid and florals or polka dots and stripes.
  3. In other news, I now find myself wanting to wear plaid and florals all the time. (Thanks Dries).

I love the term, “Power clashing”, I’ve not heard that one before. It is definitely one of my favorite looks because it is such an art form. You did such a good job on your ensemble. You really made those vintage pieces look updated.

I just clicked over to this from Tales of Endearment. Clashing patterns is still THE move, I don’t care how cool minimalism is right now!
