Inspired by Krista’s undeniably bad-A outfit choice and self-proclaimed “power clashing” philosophy from her recent Style Story, I’ve decided to come out myself… as a power-clasher! To explain, a power clasher is someone who mixes up patterns in bold, confident, fun-loving ways. Basically, my favorite thing to do with fashion.
Anyone who knows me in person knows that I love vintage clothing, quirky combos, and pattern. In now more technical and succinct terms, I can call myself a power-clasher. (And I’m not the only one.) To prove it, I grabbed a few new threads from my Fall wardrobe for a quick pattern clashing outfit post. It feels gooood to clash unabashedly.
- Work with no more than three major colors.
- Choose patterns that are different. For instance, plaid and florals or polka dots and stripes.
- Don’t be afraid to let one color or pattern really pop from the others.
In other news, I now find myself wanting to wear plaid and florals all the time. (Thanks Dries).
